We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a solid background in Java and AWS to lead and contribute to the development of scalable secure and high-performance systems. You will play a key role in architecting solutions mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence across our cloud-native platforms.

This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area offering flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with product engineering and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain high-performance risk analytics services engines and software infrastructure using Java and AWS cloud services

Lead technical design and architecture discussions across multiple systems and teams

Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD monitoring testing and code quality

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical features and services

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers

Own the reliability scalability and performance of critical production systems

Contribute to long-term technical vision and roadmap aligned with product strategy

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science or related fields with 8 or more years of industry experience. Alternatively Ph.D. Degree with 5 years of industry experience.

Strong skills in analytic computing and algorithms. Passion for finding and solving hard problems

Strong understanding of microservices architecture RESTful APIs and event-driven systems

Solid experience in AWS ecosystem (EC2 Lambda S3 RDS AWS Batch DynamoDB CloudFormation/CDK etc.)

Excellent communication skills and proven ability to convey complex ideas to others in a concise and clear manner

Preferred:

Experience in architecting cloud-native applications and distributed systems

Experience developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers

Experience with data access and computing in highly distributed cloud systems

Exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) concepts or integration of GenAI into software products

Demonstrated ability to mentor junior software engineers or software developers in all aspects of their engineering duties.

Prior experience in fintech insurance or data-intensive domains is a plus

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is$168200.00-$243650.00 depending on factors such as experience education level skills and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
