Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate in subject area to be taught with Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Approval
  • Three (3) years of Teaching/Coaching experience
  • Knowledge and background in athletic administration

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Superintendent

JOB GOAL: To serve as a resource to the athletic program by collaborating with coaches and administrators to provide leadership when interpreting and administering Arkansas Athletic Association rules and PCSSD athletic policy.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruit and make recommendations in regard to the selection and assignment of coaches to positions on the coaching staff.
  2. Serve as a consultant to building principals and athletic staff members - make recommendations each spring to the Director of District Athletics and Principal concerning job responsibility.
  3. Hold meetings with coaches at regular intervals to plan a balanced athletic program consistent with the best interests of young peoples. Keep minutes of each meeting and send copy to building principal and Director of District Athletics.
  4. Assist in assignment administering and supervising athletic events.
  5. Work with athletic boosters organization.
  6. Advise on all athletic fund raising projects.
  7. Work with PCSSD Director of District Athletics concerning District philosophy and policies.
  8. Be responsible for the formulations of policies pertaining to the total athletic program.
  9. Maintain complete inventories on all athletic equipment.
  10. Work closely with drill team cheerleaders band and coaches to coordinate usage of facilities.
  11. Communicate and coordinate between the coaches of all feeder schools.
  12. Maintain athletic participation reports.
  13. Be responsible for the purchase of equipment supplies etc. for the athletic program.
  14. Assist in planning and developing new facilities programs and curriculum.
  15. Coordinate all athletic activities under the jurisdiction of the Arkansas Activities Association.
  16. Develop evaluate and recommend guidelines and procedures for District athletic programs.
  17. Coordinate the scheduling of inter-school athletic programs.
  18. Assist in developing specifications for athletic supplies and equipment.
  19. Assist Director of District Athletics in developing a purchasing calendar for athletic programs.
  20. Assist in developing budgets for athletic programs.
  21. Serves as advisor to building principals for intra-school athletic groups.
  22. Assist in planning and development of new athletic facilities and programs.
  23. Assist in planning and conducting in-service programs for athletics program.
  24. Implement the Districts desegregation plan through monitoring to preclude discrimination in athletics on the basis or race gender or disability and annually report the results of monitoring to the Director of District Athletics.
  25. Perform other related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule. (Placement depends upon education and experience.)
Length of Contract: 240 days per contract year
