Head of Technology Strategy, Portfolio & Architecture

The Opportunity

The Head of Technology Strategy Portfolio & Architecture sits within our Australian Steel Products (ASP) business and leads ASPs technology value creation by defining strategic direction aligning technology investments with business goals and overseeing delivery roadmaps. The role ensures strategic alignment between business objectives and technology investments through robust governance frameworks that enable informed decision-making and measurable value realisation across Digital Information Technology and Operational Technology.

The role reports to the General Manager Digital & IT and is part of the ASP Technology Leadership Team. It will be based in either our Port Kembla or Mascot NSW offices or our Mount Waverley VIC office.

The role

This position drives the development of ASPs technology strategies and roadmaps in line with business needs and global direction ensuring alignment between functional and technology initiatives. By providing strategic portfolio oversight business partnership architectural standards and governance it maximises technology value while maintaining effective delivery budgeting and commercial controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and execute ASPs enterprise-wide technology portfolio strategy and roadmaps aligned with business goals global technology strategy and industry trends.
• Prioritise and allocate technology investment to maximise outcomes and growth.
• Lead technology architecture practices and modernisation strategies across Digital IT and OT that guide scalable secure and innovative solution design.
• Oversee portfolio governance and performance frameworks across technology teams to ensure initiatives deliver value and are aligned with strategy.
• Establish a structured front door process for business engagement demand management prioritisation and change planning.
• Oversee technology response for major transformation programs with strong risk and delivery controls.
• Drive digital innovation and uplift through standards and governance.
• Oversee $150M Opex and $50M Capex planning cycles ensuring strategic alignment accurate forecasting and benefits tracking.
• Oversee governance risk and compliance frameworks.
• Manage a team of 50 fostering collaboration accountability and strong stakeholder engagement to deliver shared technology outcomes.

This is a pivotal leadership role in our technology transformation journey.  To be successful you need:

• Demonstrated experience in enterprise-wide technology strategy architecture and portfolio management
• Proven success delivering large-scale transformations across Digital IT and OT
• Develop and apply a strategic perspective anticipating challenges and opportunities and make informed decisions  
• Effective use of strategic influence to achieve impactful outcomes building strong relationships and driving organisational success.
• Expertise in technology investment planning governance and benefits realisation
• Proven ability to engage and lead across multiple stakeholders regardless of reporting lines
• Strong track record of aligning technology initiatives with business priorities
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing cross-functional teams
• Experience driving innovation and modernisation at scale
• Skilled in managing significant technology budgets and financial planning
• Strong oversight of risk compliance and governance frameworks in complex environments
