Job Title: Family Engagement & Outreach Specialist (220 Days)
Location: Division Annex and/or Assigned School
Reports to: Supervisor of Strategic Initiatives
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary:
The Family Engagement and Outreach Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering meaningful partnerships between families schools and the broader community. This position is dedicated to enhancing student achievement by promoting inclusive family involvement coordinating outreach efforts and connecting families with essential resources and services.
Essential Functions:
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trusting relationships with families from diverse cultural linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to develop coordinate and implement effective family engagement strategies that support student learning and well-being. Must be able to collaborate effectively with school personnel community partners and interdisciplinary teams to identify needs and connect families to appropriate resources and services. Ability to collect interpret and apply information related to student and family circumstances including barriers to engagement to inform outreach approaches and support plans. Requires the ability to plan organize and facilitate events and workshops; utilize technology for communication and data tracking; and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and deadlines. Must be able to maintain confidentiality exercise sound judgment and demonstrate cultural competence in all interactions. Access to reliable transportation is required for home visits school meetings and community outreach activities.

Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:
Duties are normally performed in an office and school environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. A social worker must exhibit manual dexterity to operate a phone; enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels outdoors and on the phone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms and on the phone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend stoop climb stairs and reach overhead.
