ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director: Alternative School provides leadership to all aspects of the alternative education program including providing a safe and productive learning environment for students while providing instructional leadership and professional development for staff. The Director is a leader in innovation and positive risk-taking implementing strategies to resolve academic and non-academic challenges that may interfere with student learning opportunities.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires:
- Masters degree.
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
- Kentucky certification as Principal is required. Kentucky certification and / or experience as a Guidance Counselor is preferred.
- Knowledge of current curriculum instructional trends and techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide instructional leadership in a manner that exhibits competencies and results in continuous school improvement.
- Facilitate processes and engage in activities that ensure the vision and the mission of the District are effectively communicated to staff parents students and community members.
- Promote the success and safety of all students by advocating nurturing and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
- Understand and reinforce the principles of curriculum design implementation evaluation measurement assessment and refinement.
- Facilitate processes that ensure barriers to student learning are identified clarified and addressed and student and staff accomplishments are recognized and celebrated.
- Regularly assess school culture and climate with an emphasis on the value of diversity when developing learning objectives.
- Serve as an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by ensuring management of the organization operations and resources for a safe efficient and effective learning environment.
- Oversee operational processes including but not limited to school safety and security human resource management and development facility use and upkeep legal issues and technology that supports management functions.
- Utilize effective problem-solving conflict-resolution and consensus-building skills in leading and effectively communicating with all stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality integrity and privacy of school records.
- Promote the success of all students and staff by acting with integrity fairness and in an ethical manner.
- Serve as a member of the Superintendents leadership team. Attend all board meetings.
- Collaborate with other governmental business and community partners.
- Carry out other professional responsibilities including punctuality reliability care of equipment and materials planning communication confidentiality and following district and school policies.
- Ability to use technology for a variety of purposes including but not limited to supporting instruction accessing and manipulating data professional growth and productivity communicating and collaborating with colleagues parents and the community and conducting research/solving problems. Proficiency in technology skills must be demonstrated based on the performance criteria set out in the KDE teacher standards for technology.
- Strict adherence to the Policies and Procedures of the Boyle County Board of Education the Employee Handbook Code of Ethics for Certified School Personnel and Kentucky Revised Statutes.
- Fulfilling contractual obligation of days worked.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regularly required to use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulatives.
- Regularly required to communicate effectively using speech vision and hearing.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
