Qualifications: licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a special education teacher and special education of 4 years teaching degree in special education or education in curriculum development and curriculum to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in to remain current in content knowledge and state and federal English Immersion alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state licensure completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check
Performance Responsibilities:Coordinate the special education process for assigned schools in accordance with state and federal statutory and regulatory in collaboration with principals assistant principals and Secondary Special Education Administrator in regards to assignment and supervision of special education teachers and with principals to develop and maintain a continuum of special education with parents regarding questions and concerns about individual students curriculum leadership. Review evaluate and recommend scientifically research based intervention and remediation curriculum in the areas of reading mathematics executive functioning skills and life meetings of various members of the professional staff which are deemed necessary for the purpose of carrying out the assigned the student assessment process including initial evaluations three-year reevaluations and independent evaluations. Meet with parents to explain the process. Insure that evaluation instruments are current and that they assess all suspected/known areas of eligibility team IEPs and N1 (required summaries) for all eligibility and evaluates teacher performance as as a presenter for professional development topics related to special with grant writing and management of grant with the completion of state and federal reporting (i.e. communicate with private schools complete specified reports administer needs assessments).Performs such related assignments as delegated by the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services and/or their administrative designee.
Assessment and InterpretationIdentifies and assesses the learning development and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs.
Direct Interventions for StudentsProvides individual small group and classroom interventions to students that support access to the curriculum and school environment.
Consultation and TrainingProvides consultation to parents teachers other school personnel and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.
Professional Practice and DevelopmentApplies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skill
Communication and Relationship SkillsCommunicates effectively with students parents and school staff.
