About the Role
As a Peer Support Worker youll draw on your own mental health recovery journey to build authentic respectful and trusting relationships with our residents and service users. This is a hands-on impactful role where your insight compassion and understanding will support others on their own paths to recovery.
We are seeking someone with prior experience working as a Peer Support Worker who understands the responsibilities boundaries and unique value this role brings to a recovery-oriented environment.
- Building peer-based mentoring relationships grounded in lived experience
- Encouraging life skills and self-advocacy
- Supporting people to make sense of their mental health experiences
- Participating in recovery-focused groups and activities
- Contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings and individual support planning
- Promoting respectful inclusive and safe environments for everyone
- Maintaining clear boundaries and practicing ongoing self-reflection
Skills And Experiences
About You
To be considered for this role you will need to have;
Qualifications and Certificates
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent training)
- Current National Police Clearance Certificate(no older than six months)
- A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 Provide First Aid HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- A current working with Children Check
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- A valid Drivers licence
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a Peer Support Worker (essential)
- A strong understanding of recovery principles and peer work boundaries
- The ability to work collaboratively flexibly and compassionately
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Confidence to use your lived experience to support others while maintaining professionalism
- Commitment to inclusion and respect for diversity
Attitude
- Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental distress.
- The ability to live RW values in all workplace tasks and interactions.
- Pro-active individual who is enthusiastic and committed to upholding RW values and principles
This role is part-time working Tuesday to Thursday every week.
