Wearecurrently looking for a SVP Banking Operations Officer to join our Banking Operationsteam.
Job Summary
The SVP of Banking Operations is a key member of the retail leadership team responsible for the strategic execution management and oversight of all deposit and branch operations. The role acts as a key partner to the EVP Chief Retail & Marketing Officer. This includes leadership of deposit operations system and process administration regulatory compliance fraud oversight and operational support for a $3 billion asset bank offering simple deposit products such as checking savings and certificates of deposit. This role supports the maintenance of both locally sourced deposit accounts via branches and nationally sourced deposits acquired through digital channels.
This individual will hold robust responsibility for the design performance and optimization of the Banks core and ancillary systems ensuring alignment with process efficiency regulatory compliance cost-to-value outcomes and the Banks strategic goals. The ideal candidate will bring senior operations leadership experience and demonstrate readiness to contribute at an enterprise-wide strategic level to enable business performance scalability and innovation.
What you can expect to work on
Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute operational strategies to support the banks deposit growth customer experience and efficiency goals.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness risk management and service delivery.
  • Serve as a key contributor to enterprise-wide planning especially in relation to deposit growth and operational scalability.
  • Lead enterprise-level thinking around system process and operational architecture to support future-state banking models digital innovation and multi-channel service delivery.
Operational Oversight:
  • Oversee the end-to-end functional operations of deposit operations including technical support of new account onboarding transaction processing account maintenance fraud and servicing of customers.
  • Ensure efficient compliant and customer-focused execution of all branch and deposit operations.
  • Drive process optimization through technology integration and workflow redesign.
  • Take ownership of business process design and continuous improvement frameworks to drive scalability reduce friction and enhance cost efficiency across operational channels.
Banking Systems & Process Administration:
  • Manage core banking system enhancements and process improvements in partnership with IT and vendors.
  • Ensure systems support regulatory compliance security standards and evolving business needs.
  • Provide strategic oversight of core and ancillary banking platforms (e.g. digital banking payments fraud compliance CRM) and lead system rationalization initiatives to maximize return on technology investments.
  • Evaluate system performance and configuration relative to value creation service quality and operational risk mitigation.
  • Manage relationships with key third-party technology vendors to ensure service level adherence performance and risk mitigation.
  • Lead strategic vendor assessments and negotiations to ensure partner capabilities align with long-term system needs and cost targets.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Risk and Audit teams to ensure readiness for exams and audits.
  • Lead operational responses to regulatory changes and industry best practices.
  • Ensure operational processes technologies and vendor arrangements meet all compliance obligations and can withstand examination scrutiny while remaining cost-effective.
Leadership & Development:
  • Supervise coach and develop a high-performance team of retail operations managers and individual contributors supporting the business.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement collaboration and accountability within retail operations.
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments to ensure seamless operations and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Mentor future operational leaders and help develop internal talent pipelines for succession planning and leadership continuity.
  • Provide oversight and direction to direct reports including: 1) Business Analyst; 2) Process and System Administrator; 3) Deposit Operations Manager; 4) Branch Operations Manager
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level agreements (SLAs) for all operational areas.
  • Regularly report on operational metrics risk assessments and project statuses to executive leadership.
  • Develop and present strategic dashboards that connect operational output and system performance with business outcomes including cost-to-serve customer satisfaction and process cycle time.
What you offer us
  • Bachelors degree in business administration Finance Technology or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in banking operations with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Experience designing and optimizing complex operational processes and digital service models.
  • Prior responsibility for operational cost management technology ROI evaluation and process automation.
  • Prior experience working alongside or reporting to a Chief Operating Officer or Executive Leadership Team preferred.
  • Experience overseeing deposit operations and regulatory compliance in a mid-sized/large financial institution.
  • Strong understanding and prior experience with banking core systems and retail-consumer compliance
  • Strong understanding of branch operations technology and the digital deposit acquisition landscape.
  • Demonstrated success managing cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Excellent analytical communication and leadership skills.

Work Environment
  • This position is primarily in-office at our KCMO headquarters with flexible Friday work-from-home.
  • WFH days may be adjusted based on business needs and conditions.
  • Occasional business travel to branches and industry conferences as required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to conduct keyboard/computer work for extensive periods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (understand/be understood) with customers in person or over the phone/computer.
