General Summary:
The Instructional Coach collaborates with school staff and students to enhance student learning. This role focuses on improving teaching practices and instructional outcomes through one-on-one coaching small group facilitation and schoolwide professional development. All efforts align with the buildings instructional goals and are grounded in research-based best practices. The Instructional Coach reports directly to the building principal.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans facilitates and leads high-quality professional development aligned with school improvement goals instructional initiatives and staff needs.
- Provides structured individual and/or group professional learning for teachers as directed by building principals.
- Supports the analysis and interpretation of student assessment data to guide instructional decision-making.
- Assists teachers in designing and refining instruction based on data research-based practices and student learning needs.
- Models effective teaching practices through in-class demonstrations and co-teaching when appropriate.
- Advises on and supports classroom management and student engagement strategies.
- Helps align lessons units and instructional approaches with district curriculum frameworks and academic standards.
- Encourages ongoing professional learning through support of PLCs Instructional Rounds department collaboration and faculty meetings.
- Maintains a flexible coaching schedule that accommodates teachers availability and maximizes impact.
- Serves as an active building leadership team member contributing to strategic planning instructional improvement and school culture in keeping with district goals.
- Builds and maintains collegial confidential relationships with teachers and staff to support trust and collaboration.
- Communicates regularly and transparently with staff and leadership about instructional trends coaching progress and student learning outcomes.
- Participates in district-level curriculum and instructional planning as needed.
- Collaborates monthly with the secondary coaching team to align practices and share professional learning.
- Designs and delivers coaching support that intentionally works to close achievement gaps and promote equity.
- Supports and coordinates the Student-Support-Team work to support students in their learning.
- Designs and delivers Seminar lessons in response to feedback from counselors administrators and teacher-identified needs ensuring alignment with school priorities and student development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Title II:
Title II funds will support 0.2 FTE release for three certified teachers to serve as instructional coaches. Coaches will provide job-embedded professional learning aligned to school improvement goals through coaching cycles collaborative planning and modeling of effective instructional strategies. This initiative strengthens instructional capacity and promotes equitable outcomes through sustained peer-led development.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Duties include frequent walking and physical activity as well as use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying. Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property including bending pushing/pulling lifting twisting climbing stooping or crouching to complete work-related tasks with and without students.
- The ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population.
- Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s).
- Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently.
Environmental Conditions:
Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures including work on slippery and/or uneven surfaces. Work environment includes working around students school equipment and office equipment.
Work Schedules:
Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the districts school year calendar.
