190-day contract
Job Title: Special Services Coordinator for 504 and Gifted Compliance
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Education from a regionally accredited College or University;
- Level III-A Teaching License from the New Mexico Public Education Department;
- Level III-B Administrative License from the New Mexico Public Education Department or attainment of such licensure within three (3) years of hire; and
- Minimum of three (3) years work experience in Section 504 and/or Gifted Education.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of applicable computer systems: (Student Information System Special Programs Software for 504/Gifted/IEP Plan development including Microsoft Office Products (Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) and/or Google Suite for Education (Google Docs Sheets Slides etc.);
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written;
- Flexibility organization decision-making and problem-solving skills;
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations via in-person telephonically and/or video-conference; and
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director of Special Services may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Support to Executive Director and Director(s) of Special Services with:
- Section 504 guidance supervision and compliance aligned to District procedures and State and Federal rules and regulations;
- 504 Site Coordinator training and support;
- Gifted guidance and compliance aligned to District and State rules and regulations;
- Teacher of the Gifted training and support; and
- Audit electronic educational records in special programs.
Additional Duties
- Safeguard confidentiality of privileged information;
- Maintain professional relationships and work cooperatively with employees the community and other professionals;
- Maintain professional competence through individual and district training in-service educational activities and appropriate self-selected professional growth activities;
- Meet deadlines and work on multiple projects;
- Attend staff meetings and conduct as may be necessary training with reference to purchasing;
- Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules administrative directives and regulations school board policies and local state and federal regulations; and
- Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.
Work Hours: Salary and work year as per adopted Rio Rancho Public Schools Staff Salary Schedule.
