Job Description

Job Title: Special Education Teacher (Learning Specialist)

Location: Thornton CO
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
Contract Duration: 40 Weeks
Job Type: Full-Time Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher (Learning Specialist) to join a dynamic educational team for theschool year. This is a full-time in-person role supporting students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive and supportive school environment.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in differentiated instruction behavior intervention and compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This is an excellent opportunity for educators committed to equity and inclusion in education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction to students with mild to moderate disabilities in both individual and group settings.

  • Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families general education teachers and support staff.

  • Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each student.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records documentation and progress reports.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers school psychologists counselors and other service providers.

  • Create a positive inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth safety and engagement.

  • Participate in IEP meetings parent conferences staff development and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Required:

    • Bachelors degree or higher in Special Education or related field

    • Colorado Special Education (SPED) License or eligibility to obtain one (pending licensure is acceptable)

  • Preferred Skills:

    • Experience developing and managing IEPs

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills

    • Classroom management strategies for students with diverse needs

    • Familiarity with assistive technologies and inclusive instructional methods

Schedule & Details:
  • Full-time Day Shift Monday through Friday (8:00 AM 4:00 PM)

  • 40 hours per week

  • In-person position for theschool year

  • School holidays observed
