About the Role
Supervising a team of high-performing professionals and working with direct reports on performance management activities.
Leading the development and execution of a strategy that advances the Ohio Standard for Quality in long term care.
Driving the creation and adoption of quality improvement and workforce development initiatives.
Designing and implementing high-value educational initiatives that enhance long term care quality.
Seeking relevant insights into long term care quality data and trends and monitoring state and federal policy developments and their impact.
Overseeing the Excellence in Clinical Education Learning (EXCEL) Academy a multi-modal technical assistance program for Ohios nursing homes.
Engaging key industry stakeholders to help shape and refine system-wide quality initiatives.
Advising the Chief Program Officer on emerging trends in long term care practices and policy.
At the end of the first year in this position indicators of success include:
Professional and inclusive environment among staff and peers.
Expansion of the EXCEL Academy.
Demonstrated impact in strengthening long term care facility staff practices to support quality of care and quality of life.

About the Ohio Department of Aging
The Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) is a cabinet-level agency within the executive branch of the Ohio state government. The director of ODA is a member of the Governors cabinet serving as principal advisor and advocate for 2.8 million older adults and their families. Through services support and activities that cover a wide spectrum of issues ODA strives to achieve its mission to foster sound public policy research and initiatives that benefit older Ohioans.
ODA is the federally designated agency responsible for developing and administering multi-year state plans that advocate for and provide assistance to older Ohioans and their families. In addition to the centralized functions the agency designates and contracts with community providers and a network of 12 Area Agencies on Aging who manage a wide array of federal and state-funded supportive services. These services assist older adults to live as independently as possible; promote healthy aging and active community involvement; and support family members in their vital care giving role.
To promote the agencys vision of Ohio the best place to age in the nation ODA actively collaborates with consumers stakeholders from key associations government and the public. The independent Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman and the Board of Executives of Long-Term Services and Supports are also located within ODA.
Ideal Qualifications
Bachelors or advanced degree in public administration hospital or nursing home administration nursing or related field is preferred with progressive leadership in a similar role.
Excellent leadership skills in building developing and managing educational or workforce development programs.
Effective in public speaking writing impactful correspondence and maintaining relationships across different teams internally and externally.
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing home administration long term care services Medicaid Medicare and Older Americans Act programs a plus.
