Job Description

Assistant Restaurant Manager
The Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of a restaurant ensuring that excellent customer service is provided and that the establishment runs efficiently. This position is vital as it supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily activities managing staff and maintaining high standards of food quality and customer satisfaction. The Assistant Manager also handles various administrative tasks engages with customers and provides leadership to team members fostering a positive work environment. This role requires a balance of various skills including operational management financial oversight and the ability to work under pressure. The Assistant Manager represents the restaurant brand and sets the tone for the customer experience making it essential for them to embody the values of the organization while ensuring that every patron leaves satisfied.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in daily operational tasks.
  • Supervise and train front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
  • Manage the restaurant s inventory and place orders as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Handle customer complaints and ensure their resolution.
  • Monitor and maintain food quality standards.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and financial reports.
  • Lead staff meetings and contribute to training sessions.
  • Participate in marketing and promotional activities.
  • Assist in developing staff work schedules.
  • Oversee cash handling and financial reconciliations.
  • Promote a positive dining experience through effective service.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as required.
  • Monitor restaurant cleanliness and overall atmosphere.
  • Foster teamwork and a collaborative environment among staff.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor s degree in Hospitality or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in the restaurant industry with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant management software.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and health standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic understanding of financial management and budgeting.
  • Experience in team leadership and staff development.
  • Ability to handle unexpected situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for service.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Familiarity with menu development and food trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel as needed.
