Why your role matters
We are seeking a Program Manager to take on a strategic leadership role within the Yuwaya Ngarrali partnership and the Societal Transformation and Equity team. This position is central to the planning development resourcing and implementation of projects focused on justice. You will be responsible for producing project documentation preparing funding proposals initiating and overseeing a range of justicerelated initiatives managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring quality and strategic alignment with both the Yuwaya Ngarrali partnership and the emerging Social Determinants of Justice Program.
The Program Manager reports to the Director of Yuwaya Ngarrali and works in support of the Pro ViceChancellor for Societal Transformation & is a senior individual role without direct reports however there could be opportunities to lead a team in the future.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Lead the planning and implementation of justice projects of the Yuwaya Ngarrali partnership within the Division of Societal Impact Equity & Engagement and facilitate the definition of each projects scope objectives and deliverables.
- Oversee and manage the delivery of Yuwaya Ngarrali partnership and Societal Transformation and Equity justice projects and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
- Manage stakeholder and partner engagement in justice projects including grants and agreement management.
- Support the Director of Yuwaya Ngarrali in fundraising budget preparation and planning and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement the justice program education and training strategy.
- Provide and coordinate expert advice and advocacy for staff in Walgett in particular the DEGs Community Response and Wellbeing Leads in the areas of energy poverty housing and homelessness and fines and fine related debt.
- Support the development of DEG client advocacy processes for the coordination of client matters from intake to closure including documentation of systemic issues emerging from advocacy and use of client management software and data gathering and analysis.
- Collaborate with the Yuwaya Ngarrali partnership teams at the DEG and UNSW and key stakeholders to monitor evaluate and report on progress of initiatives; and identify problems and propose possible solutions.
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
- Proven advanced project management experience with an indepth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans objectives and documentation.
- Excellent consultation influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problemsolving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative flexibility and to be proactive in development of robust solutions to problems.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation in particular with communitycontrolled organisations.
- A thorough understanding of complaints and appeal processes commonly used to solve consumer issues and experience in advising and supporting the development of client advocacy processes.
- Capacity to coach and support staff in how to understand navigate and use complaints and appeal processes in the relevant priority areas or know where and how to find this out.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications including Microsoft suite.
- Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
