Job Description

Full Time Position (40 hours);12 months with benefits; Hours are 3:00pm to 11:30pm

Wage per the Classified Salary Guidelines experience will be considered

Position reports directly to the Director of Facilities Transportation & Energy

POSITION JOB TITLE: Custodian

POSITION CLASSIFICATION:Classified

POSITION SUPERVISION: Director of Facilities Transportation & Energy

GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITIONS PURPOSE:To play an integral part in ensuring a safe attractive comfortable clean and efficient environment for students to learn and develop.

EDUCATION AND / OR TRAINING

  • Less than a high school diploma
  • MSDS and blood born pathogens training

EXPERENCE:

  • One year experience in custodial work is preferred
  • Ability to communicate and work well with staff parents and children.

DEMONSTRATE KNOWLEDGE / PROFICIENCY OF EQUIPMENT TOOLS MATERIALS AND SKILLS:

  • Vacuum
  • Cleaning Chemicals
  • General hand tools

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • May be required to alter working hours to perform regular assigned duties
  • Deliver equipment and supplies
  • Cleans restrooms as needed
  • Settingup and takingdown of all schoolrelated activities and events.
  • Moves furniture and equipment as needed
  • Raises the United States Flag before school and retires the flag after school hours.
  • Reports safety hazards and the need for major and minor repairs.
  • Keeps grounds free rubbish.
  • Sweeps vacuums dusts and empty trash as needed.
  • Cleans corridors when warranted during the day.
  • Assists the maintenance technician.
  • Assists with securing the buildings
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with Supervisor when problems occur.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND AUTHORITY:

  • Must use own initiative and judgment in performing job.
  • Performs as directed; responsible for own job under direct supervision.

INTERACTION WITH OTHERS:

  • Completes work with minimum contact with others

TIME MANAGEMENT:

  • Routine work with little planning needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Periodic exposure to hazardous materials such as blood born pathogens high voltage gas and heights.

The applicant for this position is required to:

  • Sit approximately 0% of the time
  • Walk approximately 90% of the time
  • Stand approximately 5% of the time
  • Kneeling / Stooping approximately 5% of the time
  • Lift on a regular basis 30 to 40 lbs.
  • Reaching with hands and arms on a regular basis
  • Ability to wear respirator and gloves as needed
