Primary Role:
To help all students develop skills in the areas of personalsocial growth educational planning and career/vocational development
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Masters Degree
- Current North Carolina counseling license or be in the process of obtaining
- Previous counseling experience with children is preferred
Skills:
- Ability to plan coordinate and evaluate the effectiveness of student programs
- Highly organized and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask giving priority to the most important duties
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Friendly and able to interact professionally and positively with staff students parents and community members
- Computer skills should include at a minimum keyboarding email databases Word and Excel
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all Board policies
- Maintain confidentiality of all student parent and staff information
- Establish the school counseling program and develop activities and resources to implement the program
- Coordinate counseling services for students
- Provide individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental preventive and remedial needs of students
- Consult and collaborate with parents teachers and other staff members to assist in meeting the needs of students
- Monitors student academic performance behavior and attendance and facilitates appropriate interventions
- Adhere to the ethical standards of the counseling profession
- Provides intervention strategies to teachers
- May serve as a 504 Coordinator or a member of an IEP team
- Coordinate the efforts of support services and outside agencies
- Follow procedures for suspected cases of child abuse or neglect
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/administrator.
- Schedule and attend home visits.
- Ability to be mobile around the facilities for two buildings on one campus.
- Create and assist with implementation of Behavior Plans for SWD and Gen Ed students.
