Job Description

Position:Secondary Teacher (Pool)

Location: South Campus

Salary is commensurate upon previous experience and valid certification.

OBJECTIVE

A Teacher develops curriculum and lesson plans and present those lessons to their students individually or in groups that facilitate active learning. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. They track the progress of their students and create reports to inform parents about their progress.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • To plan and prepare appropriately the assigned courses.
  • To conduct assigned classes at the scheduled times.
  • To demonstrate competence in classroom instruction.
  • To implement the designated curriculum completely and in due time.
  • To plan and implement effective classroom management practices.
  • To engage students in active handson creative problembased learning.
  • To provide opportunities for students to access and use current technology resources and information to solve problems.
  • To provide opportunities for students to apply and practice what is learned.
  • To engage students in creative thinking and integrated or interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • To build students ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • To maintain a safe orderly environment conducive to learning.
  • To comply with requirements for the safety and supervision of students inside and outside the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

PROFESSIONALISM

  • To be punctual and be available in the school during official working hours.
  • To comply with policies standards rules regulations and procedures of the school.
  • To take precautions to protect student records equipment materials and facilities.
  • To participate responsibly in the schools improvement initiatives.
  • To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities.
  • To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff.
  • To provide and accept evaluative feedback in a professional manner.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about school personnel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Proven experience as a teacher.
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the schools policies and procedures.
  • Positive Attitude.
  • Team player in meeting targeted goals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Wellorganized and committed.
  • Creative and energetic.
  • To create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • To demonstrate the ability to perform teaching or other responsibilities including good work habits reliability punctuality and followthrough on commitments.
  • To demonstrate skill when managing student behavior intervening and resolving discipline problems.
  • To model good social skills leadership and civic responsibility.
  • To model and promote empathy compassion and respect for the gender ethnic religious cultural and learning diversity of students.
  • To foster student selfcontrol selfdiscipline and responsibility to others.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Required: Minimum of three years teaching experience in a Texas Public School.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred: Valid Texas Certification in your area of instruction
