Why You Will Love this Job:
The Controls Engineering CoOp works in engines assembly. They apply previously acquired skills school training and any manufacturing knowledge to a high pace production process. This includes data analysishow to determine root cause and effects of issues deriving potential solutions through technology devices and/or equipment learning how to drive and execute key process changes learning and practicing effective communications with multiple business units working with outside vendors on new equipment and technology for quality or cost improvements and learning how to cost justify a multitude of engineering solutions.
At the end of the assignment the coop will be prepared to present their project scope analytical and problemsolving approach to the project design ideas and propose solutions test and qualification results and final recommendation or production release plans.
Specific Responsibilities
Learn the entire assembly processes and how each part of the engine is designed to interact with other components for the engine to perform to expectations.
Gain an indepth understanding of how to create a Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis document and the supporting Control Plan Documents.
Learn/Develop Root Cause Analysis skills for problem solving for quick action resolution.
Work with engineering support to learn how to integrate process changes and/or new equipment into the current production processes. After knowledge is obtained work with Operations and Support functions to launch such equipment as a Lead Change Agent.
Work with Engineering to spec out Capital Equipment send out Request for Quotes
Learn to create justifications for purchasing equipment and plan production launch activities.
Work with teams on the floor to locate and make plans to eliminate NonValue Added work detail through implementing error proofing devices improved materialhandling processes and general line rebalancing activities.
Learn/Develop Root Cause Analysis skills for problem solving for quick action resolution.
Requirements
Currently enrolled and working towards a bachelors degree in industrial Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Junior level classification or higher preferred with some working knowledge and a career expectation in manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of engines along with technical competence on equipment robotics PLC systems considered a plus.
