REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SUMMARY: The job of Bus Attendant is done for the purpose(s) of providing for the safety and welfare of students during nonclassroom activities; communicating observations and incidents that may impact students development or general wellbeing to other school personnel; and providing appropriate emergency care as may be necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Skills are required to perform multiple nontechnical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices.
Knowledge is required to perform basic math read and follow instructions; and understand multistep oral and written instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: pertinent codes policies regulation and/or laws.
Ability is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with specific jobrelated data; and utilize a variety of jobrelated equipment. In working with others independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with students; being attentive to detail and adhering to safely practices.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organizations services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and some finefinger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting 30% walking and 10% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
