Capstone helps kids succeed by creating books that make learning fun. Were looking for a creative thoughtful marketer to help us get more books into the hands of kids and educators. As Marketing Manager youll lead the tactical execution of integrated marketing campaigns that support Capstones print publishing business across trade distribution and direct sales channels.


In this role youll partner closely with Sales Leadership Creative and Operations to build campaigns that delight our customers elevate our brand and drive results. Youll bring a balance of strategic thinking and handson execution paired with great storytelling instincts a customerfirst mindset and a deep belief in the power of books.


This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is both analytical and imaginative takes initiative and finds joy in collaboration. If you care about literacy and engaging in creative work that drives results wed love to meet you.


Our preference is for this role to be hybrid based out of either our North Mankato MN or Edina MN locations. However fully remote work may also be considered.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Channel & Partner Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and lead omnichannel marketing campaigns tailored to Capstones unique market mix.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to understand partner needs and cocreate marketing plans that support sellthrough and build longterm relationships.
  • Coordinate campaign deliverables in Asana and lead clear timely communication across internal teams.
  • Support seasonal and key title campaign planning with input from the Content Marketing Manager.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer personas and motivations across distribution trade and direct sales channels.
  • Bring empathy and insight to messaging and optimize the customer journey from awareness to advocacy.


Digital Advertising & Paid Media

  • Plan manage and optimize paid ad campaigns across digital platforms (Google Ads Meta TikTok etc.) targeting educators librarians retailers and families.
  • Define and refine audience segments to improve ROAS and expand reach.
  • Explore new digital channels and content formats to increase visibility and engagement.


Social Media Email & Content Marketing

  • Own organic and paid social media strategy prioritizing creative storytelling and community engagement.
  • Write and edit clear compelling content that reflects Capstones brand and values.
  • Collaborate with creative and content teams to develop engaging campaign assets including emails sell sheets social content and more.
  • Work with the Digital Account Registrar on email strategy segmentation and analytics.


Website & Analytics

  • Manage updates lead capture forms and landing pages on Capstones website to support campaign and product priorities.
  • Use tools like Google Analytics and Salesforce Account Engagement to track and report on campaign performance.
  • Apply insights and A/B testing to continually improve marketing effectiveness.


Event Campaign & Sales Enablement

  • Support promotional planning for events author appearances and industry trade shows (e.g. ALA TLA).
  • Collaborate with Sales to develop collateral and assets for key accounts and seasonal pushes.
  • Support directtoschool and library sales with lead generation and nurture campaigns.


Campaign Measurement & Optimization

  • Track KPIs including ROAS CPC CAC and email metrics to evaluate and optimize campaign performance.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting with actionable insights.
  • Partner with analytics and Sales Ops teams to build dashboards and measure marketing impact.


Education Experience and Skills desired:

  • 7 years of marketing experience preferably in publishing or education.
  • Strong creative and copywriting skills with the ability to craft content thats clear engaging and onbrand.
  • Experience managing digital ad campaigns across major platforms with a focus on ROI.
  • Working knowledge of SEO SEM and social media best practices.
  • Experience with website content management (Adobe Experience Manager preferred) with a keen eye for accuracy and consistency.
  • Proficiency in tools like Google Analytics Salesforce or similar systems.
  • Excellent project management and collaboration skills.
  • A selfstarter with a positive teamoriented mindset able to work independently adapt quickly and bring out the best in others.


Travel Requirements

Approximately 510% travel may be required.

The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered surrounding compensation including but not limited to: skill sets experience and training work location and other business and organizational needs. At Capstone it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65000$80000.
