Job Description

iMentor is seeking a dynamic creative and entrepreneurial Manager of Recruitment (MR) to recruit volunteer mentors for iMentor Chicagos 1:1 college and career success mentoring program. Reporting to the Director of Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement the Manager of Recruitment joins a team that is collectively responsible for improving and executing corporate and community engagement initiatives to mobilize a pool of highquality mentors (725 new volunteers in 2025) to drive postsecondary success outcomes for our students.

The Manager of Recruitment will collaborate with a team of three to develop and implement a recruitment strategy that is both scalable and sustainable as our program grows to full capacity. As a manager working with corporate and/or community partners the MR will steward a portfolio of existing partners and build new partnerships with a wide variety of community groups alumni organizations local corporations and more! A strong focus on building a volunteer mentor base that represents the racial lingual and geographic diversity of Chicago will be crucially important.

The ideal candidate will have experience in volunteer recruitment or management partnership development marketing community relations or engagement sales or promotions. They will be a natural networker able to navigate complex organizations to build and maintain strong partnerships. The MR will be motivated and energized by ambitious goals and must have strong project management skills with a focus on details customer service follow through and results.


Responsibilities

    • Manage a portfolio of partnerships (may include corporate community and/or board relationships) that will lead to 200 new mentors committed to 2 years of mentorship
    • Play a key role in improving the teams strategies to recruit more volunteers annually devising new and innovative approaches to recruitment continuing to grow the diversity of the mentor community race industry age neighborhood language
    • Facilitate and/or support info sessions mentor orientations training sessions both virtual and inperson
    • Support iMentor Chicago in maintaining and growing an active presence online via LinkedIn Instagram and other channels
    • Identify and pursue high potential recruitment opportunities which may include speaking engagements networking events public events online postings and community partnerships
    • Manage communications and follow up with prospective partner organizations groups and individuals acting as the face of the organization and ensuring a superior recruitment process and volunteer experience
    • Participate in monthly Partnership Meetings to leverage key stakeholders (Mentor Ambassadors and Chicago Advisory Board) in supporting recruit efforts
    • Support Chicagos Career Connected Learning Experiences events that bridge the gap between students and corporate partners including small and large group student shadow opportunities corporate visits and tours and career speed networking
    • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and collect and analyze data to assess the performance of current recruitment initiatives and inform future mentor outreach strategies
    • In partnership with the Mentor Engagement team support Mentor Community campaigns and events such as networking ongoing training career programming panel discussions and other events involving corporate/community partners

Qualifications

    • Experience in volunteer management community outreach sales and/or partnership management
    • Experience working in Chicago communities and a deep understanding of Chicago networks preferred
    • Keen networker who has the natural ability to build bridges with a wide variety of people connect people with causes and inspire them to take action
    • Demonstrated public speaking writing and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate a wide variety of people; intuitive empathic communicator who can quickly build rapport trust and credibility
    • Critical thinker with the ability to analyze data recognize trends and make recommendations
    • Skilled project manager who can identify needs scope projects implement strategy and see something through to completion
    • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously without sacrificing thoroughness and detail
    • Customer service orientation with superior relationshipbuilding skills
    • Quick learner and hard worker with the ability to thrive under pressure and deadlines
    • Comfortable taking on both high and lowlevel tasks and projects from driving strategy to managing data and preparing materials for events
    • Flexibility in working hours including some heavy evening and weekend commitments on a monthly basis during the Recruitment Season (AprilOctober).
    • Strong computer skills: experience with Outlook Eventbrite LinkedIn and/or Salesforce preferred
    • Demonstrated alignment with iMentors mission values and commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
    • Our organization works in partnership with district public schools across the country. In doing so we must meet all compliance requirements of those districts including background checks.
