The Associate Director Safety is responsible for overseeing the safety and security of all Bowen Health facilities. This role leads proactive efforts to identify risks ensure compliance with regulatory standards manage emergency preparedness and foster a culture of safety across the organization. The Associate Director partners closely with leadership clinical teams facilities and external agencies to implement programs that protect staff patients and visitors while driving continuous improvement in safety practices. This position will require frequent travel between Bowen Health facilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Continuously monitor and evaluate potential hazards and risks in clinical practices procedures and the physical environment to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop systems to collect analyze and report safety and security incidents identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
- Educate healthcare staff at all levels on safety protocols best practices and incident reporting and create a culture of safety.
- Collaborate with leadership and appropriate departments to develop implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies procedures and guidelines.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives to reduce adverse events and ensure patient and staff safety.
- Track Safety and Security metrics analyze trends and present findings and recommendations to leadership.
- Foster open communication with staff patients and families to address and resolve safety concerns.
- Conduct regular Safety & Security Vulnerability Assessments across all facilities and assess workplace hazards and recommend preventive measures.
- Perform inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with all applicable Joint Commission HRSA AHJ OSHA and state safety requirements.
- Investigate safety incidents determine root causes and lead preventive and corrective action efforts.
- Provide ongoing staff education and deliver regular safety training programs and awareness campaigns.
- Oversee the Hazardous Waste management program maintaining proper documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Manage emergency preparedness initiatives including the development of evacuation plans and response procedures.
- Establish and lead an Emergency Operations Committee Safety and Risk Management Committee and a Security Committee coordinate drills and exercises.
- Maintain and update the organizations Safety and Security Management Plans.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with local emergency responders law enforcement and community safety partners.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrates commitment to and practices in line with Bowen Healths core values of respect integrity mission and stewardship.
- Indepth knowledge of safety regulations including Joint Commission OSHA HRSA CMS and statespecific guidelines.
- Experience conducting risk assessments incident investigations and safety audits.
- Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead crossfunctional teams and committees.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage all levels of staff and leadership.
- Strong data analysis and reportwriting skills; ability to translate findings into actionable plans.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure especially during emergencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety reporting systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety Public Health Emergency Management Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in safety risk management emergency preparedness or a related field. Healthcare experience preferred.
- Certificate or Professional License: Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Valid drivers license and active auto insurance coverage.
- Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
- Must be a minimum 25 years of age.
