Job Summary: The Archivist will be responsible for the management preservation and accessibility of the colleges archival collections. Reporting to the Director of Stafford Library and Archives this position involves overseeing all aspects of the archives including acquisition arrangement description and outreach. The Archivist will ensure that the collections are accessible to students faculty staff and external researchers while promoting awareness of the archives value to the college community. This role requires a blend of technical archival skills excellent communication abilities and a passion for preserving the institutions history. Essential Functions: - Organize catalog and process archival materials including documents photographs audiovisual materials and digital records.
- Maintain and develop the archival collections by identifying gaps acquiring new materials and deaccessioning unnecessary items.
- Develop and implement archival policies and procedures for the acquisition processing and preservation of materials.
- Ensure the proper storage handling and preservation of physical and digital archival materials in accordance with professional standards.
- Monitor environmental conditions (e.g. temperature humidity) to maintain the integrity of collections.
- Provide research assistance to students faculty staff and external researchers.
- Develop and maintain userfriendly finding aids and databases to facilitate access to collections.
- Digitize archival materials and create digital archives to improve access and preservation.
- Promote the archives through events exhibitions and programs that engage the campus community.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate archives into the curriculum and support academic research.
- Maintain accurate records of all archival activities including accessioning processing and usage statistics.
- Prepare reports for library administration external funders and accreditation bodies.
- Assist with developing and managing the archives budget.
- Collaborate with Advancement to utilize Archives for fundraising efforts as needed.
- Participate in professional organizations workshops and conferences to stay current with trends in archival practices.
- Supervise student workers or volunteers assisting with archival projects and tasks.
- Serve on division and college committees as requested

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes : Student Assistants interns and/or volunteers Position reports to: Director of Stafford Library & Archives Required Experience: - Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) with a focus in archives or another graduatelevel degree with a focus on archives preservation or records management.
- Familiarity with archival standards and best practices for organizing describing and preserving physical and digital collections.
- Familiarity with collection management tools such as ArchivesSpace CONTENTdm or similar platforms.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to engage and instruct students and faculty on archival research and methods.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience: - Experience working in archives or special collections preferably in an academic setting.
- Experience with digital archives digitization technologies and metadata standards for digital preservation.
