Job Summary : McFarlin Library at the University of Tulsa invites candidates for a Contracted Digital Archivist position. This position reports to the Director of McFarlin Librarys Special Collections Department and the co-PIs of the project. The proposed 3-year restorative project a collaborative effort between The University of Tulsa (TU) and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation ( MCN ) Historic and Cultural Preservation Department focuses on digitizing and rematriating the Robertson-Worcester Collection and materials found in the Indians of North America Historical Manuscripts and DocumentsCollection located in the Special Collections Department of TUs McFarlin Library and of immense significance to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. Central to its intention this critical archival project aims to provide the Muscogee (Creek) Nation with historical and language materials never held in the possession of the Muscogee people. Grant funding will support the weekly work of co-PIs the hiring of a full-time digital archivist specializing in indigenous librarianship a part-time digital archivist and a graduate student research assistant as well as digital scanning costs and community outreach targeted to Mvskoke communities on the Reservation outside of the Tulsa area. This is a part-time position with the expectation that at the end of the contract period these collections will be fully organized the finding aids will be complete all designated materials will be digitized and made accessible in both Tulsa Universitys McFarlin Library digital archive and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Library and Archives digital archive. Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Researches and understands background information about the targeted collections Creates a detailed finding aid through the ArchivesSpace software suite for scholars to reference when they want to access the collection. This is accomplished through thorough processing and archival description according to professional standards Pre-audits collection materials and prepares them for outsourced digitization Post-audits collection materials after digitization Integrates digitized materials into digital archives at McFarlin Library ( TIND ) and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Library and Archives (Mukurtu) Attends weekly meetings with library and project staff Provides weekly reports to the Director of Special Collections and Primary Co-investigators of the project Presents at 2 major national conferences alongside project co-PIs during the second and third years of the grant period Develops and deploys Mvskoke community events along with project co-PIs Engages and educates community about archive content and access and supports local librarians and community leader Solicits feedback via surveys on archive and interface from Mvskoke citizens and other community event attendees to understand user experience and inform user-centered design enhancements Composes updates and maintains a handbook to document all major tasks completed and preserve templates for recurring communications e.g. progress reports Complete Reading Room supervision duties as assigned (no more than 25% of total weekly work hours)

Physical Demands
Ability to work with physical collections which requires pushing heavy carts and lifting library materials etc.

Required Qualifications
Master of Library Information Science degree ( MLS or MLIS ) from an ALA -accredited program or equivalent experience in library metadata and digitization systems Thorough knowledge and understanding of DACS (Describing Archives Content Standard) name authority record creation and subject authority record creation General knowledge of archival principals and best practices for archives including basic preservation measures Demonstrated prior work experience in archival and/or records management Demonstrated experience with digitization projects content management and metadata software Experience with digital collection management and/or institutional repository applications such as TIND and Mukurtu Proficiency with Microsoft products including Word and Excel Ability to work independently and collaboratively with library staff project staff and vendors/contacts outside of the university Ability to work on location at Tulsa Universitys McFarlin Library Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail able to establish effective priorities and deadlines The ability to handle extensive data entry in a long-term project

Preferred Qualifications
General familiarity with Native American and U.S. History Experience in Indigenous archival co-stewardship and data sovereignty practices
