Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Assist in the arrangement and description of University Archives collections according to archival and digitization standards and departmental guidelines. In particular provide processing and quality control support for the Inclusive History and Images audiovisual oral histories (editing transcription etc.) and other archival and community-driven audio-visual collections.
Assist the University Archivist in preparing collections to be available via the Online Archive of California Quartex digital collections platform or Archives and Special Collections website through drafting collection level summaries and other metadata as needed.
Maintain regular hours of service in Archives and Special Collections.
Participate in a departmental program of preservation and conservation of materials.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
Typically a Masters degree in Archival Studies Library/Information Sciences from an ALA accredited program with course work in archives or manuscript management; or a related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
One year of library or archives experience processing large archival collections either through internships graduate student assistant work or regular employment.
Demonstrated knowledge in the fundamentals of the organization and description of archival collections. Familiarity with university library or research center operations is preferred. The selected applicant should also have a basic understanding of working with digital collections technologies. Knowledge of history of higher education preferred.
Exemplary communication skills both written and oral. Ability to work effectively with others and to work independently with minimal instruction and supervision.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
Demonstrated computer competencies including Microsoft Office productivity applications and Web browsers. Preferably knowledgeable about integrated library systems.
