At Good Shepherd we are guided by a core belief:

We serve the most vulnerable members of our communities through a range of vital programs including emergency food services transitional housing and education for homeless and streetinvolved youth hospice palliative care community mental health supports and longterm supportive housing. All of these with a deep commitment to Harm Reduction practices.
Your Opportunity to Lead Change
Good Shepherd is currently inviting applications for positions on our Boards of Directors from Toronto or the Niagara area. We are looking for individuals who bring leadership professional expertise innovative thinking and a commitment to social justice to help guide our agencies. As part of our commitment to inclusivity diversity equity and accessibility our goal is a governance structure that reflects the communities we serve. We especially invite individuals with disabilities those who identify as Black Indigenous or persons of colour members of the LGBTQ2S community or those with lived experience with homelessness/risk of homelessness to apply.
Accommodation are available for support in the application award and participation processes.
There are two boards one principally overseeing services and another focusedon shelters and property. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or expertise in the following areas:
- Lived Experience with homelessness
- Social Media
- Legal
- Construction/Development
- Mental Health Sector
If you have experience in other areas we would love to hear from you.
Commitment:
- Commit to a minimum of 3 years (maximum three 3year terms).
- Attend the Annual Members Meeting (held in Hamilton)
- Board and Committee hybrid meetings (inperson and/or hybrid) meetings are held every 2 months (no meetings are held in December July and August).
