The Role
The library technician supports the learning teaching and research activities of NWP by:
- Providing circulation and reference services plus basic technical assistance to students faculty and staff
- Hiring training and supervising parttime/casual Learning Commons staff members
- Proctoring exams in the Testing Centre
- Facilitating interlibrary loan services
- Completing other technical duties in support of Learning Commons services
- Planning and running Learning Commons programs and events
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a Library and Information Technology Diploma and one or more years experience working as a library technician. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience using an ILS/LSP ideally OCLC WorldShare Management Services
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Previous experience proctoring exams and supervising employees will be assets
