The Role

The library technician supports the learning teaching and research activities of NWP by:

  • Providing circulation and reference services plus basic technical assistance to students faculty and staff
  • Hiring training and supervising parttime/casual Learning Commons staff members
  • Proctoring exams in the Testing Centre
  • Facilitating interlibrary loan services
  • Completing other technical duties in support of Learning Commons services
  • Planning and running Learning Commons programs and events



Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Library and Information Technology Diploma and one or more years experience working as a library technician. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using an ILS/LSP ideally OCLC WorldShare Management Services
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Previous experience proctoring exams and supervising employees will be assets
