About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Learning Support Officer to become a valuable addition to our remarkable team at St Johns College in Dubbo NSW. The Aboriginal Learning Support Officer plays an essential role in supporting Aboriginal students to thrive in a Catholic secondary school environment. Working alongside teachers and support staff the officer assists with implementing targeted literacy and numeracy programs engages in the development of personalised learning plans and fosters a culturally safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. This selfdirected role requires someone with strong interpersonal skills a passion for education and a commitment to supporting the wellbeing and success of Aboriginal students.

About You (selection criteria)
We are looking for someone who can meet following selection criteria:
An understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education with a willingness to support the faith and ethos of the school.
A genuine passion for supporting the educational cultural and social development of Aboriginal students with a commitment to fostering a culturally safe and inclusive learning environment.
Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting preferably supporting students with diverse learning needs including literacy and numeracy intervention.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with teachers school staff students families and community members.
An understanding of learning and development including instructional strategies for literacy and numeracy and the ability to implement tailored programs to support student achievement.
Knowledge of child protection principles and a demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to comply with all relevant legislation policies and procedures.
The ability to work independently using discretion and sound judgement to solve problems plan activities and make informed decisions that support learning outcomes.
Minimum Certificate III in Education Support (or willing to obtain).
