Job Description

  • Fulltime and 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Commencing July 2025
  • Research Assistant ($73350 $80065) 17% Superannuation (pro rata part time)

The School of Psychology is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Australian Temperament Project (ATP) a longstanding multigenerational study of social and emotional development. This role will involve assisting with data collection and participant engagement as part of the next phase of the study. The position sits within a collaborative research team in the Faculty of Health. This position is based at the Melbourne Childrens Campus (Royal Childrens Hospital) with work also required at Deakins Burwood Campus and Deakin Downtown. Travel will also be required across Victoria.

As a Research Assistant you will:

  • Assist with the daytoday operations of the study
  • Collect data from participants using strategies such as web surveys and computer assisted telephone interviews as well as conducting in person assessments based at across at the Melbourne Childrens Campussite and on community visits across Victoria
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of study protocols and surveys
  • Design and maintain databases to store information on research performance perform data cleansing manipulate data and provide reports assisting in analysing the data
  • Ensure data is recorded and stored safely and accurately

To be successful youll have:

  • A degree in a relevant area with experience as a research assistant OR an appropriate combination of experience and training
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience conducting research tasks for example the recruitment of participants data collection data entry survey/questionnaire development participant tracing and engagement and experience contributing to ethics submissions
  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills including evidence of attention to detail and ability to provide succinct reports
  • Sound organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in both a team environment and independently
