Position Summary:
Sands Capital is seeking a motivated Research Associate (RA) to perform general investment research and analysis. In this role you will assist the Sr. Research Analyst in maintaining coverage of portfolio companies and evaluating new opportunities for investment within the technology sector.
The RA is typically expected to work for 2-4 years before either leaving for external opportunities or being considered for internal promotion based on performance and firm needs.
Work Expectations:
The work location for this role is expected to be Sands Capitals headquarters in Arlington Virginia on a hybrid schedule of three days per week in-office (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays) or more as directed by your manager depending on the role and team needs. Please know that the hybrid schedule is subject to change as directed by our Executive Management Team at any time.
Position Responsibilities:
The RA will be the lead on all quantitative aspects of the investment research conducting by the team. This includes but is not limited to:
- Building maintaining and updating detailed financial models to support the investment decision-making process;
- Gathering and analyzing data from primary and secondary sources to uncover insights that add value to research;
- Drafting investment cases and research notes that clearly convey our perspectives on companies and the industries in which they operate;
- Writing timely earnings notes following quarterly results;
- Conducting industry analysis by synthesizing various research sources and applying analytical frameworks (e.g. Porters Five Forces) to assess investment attractiveness across sectors;
- Preparing presentations and materials to support communication with Portfolio Management teams and contribute to meetings with company management;
- Supporting all aspects of the research processfrom idea generation to monitoring existing investmentsby prioritizing tasks within sector teams and updating relevant models tools and data sets;
- Fostering a strong team dynamic by building collaborative relationships communicating project priorities and progress and contributing to a culture of transparency and best practices;
- Performing other position responsibilities as needed; and

Position Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Finance Economics Accounting or other relevant major (strong academic performance required);
- 1-3 years of experience analyzing businesses either in sell-side research investment banking consulting or an investment management role;
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis including building 3-statement models;
- Expertise in Excel PowerPoint and FactSet/Bloomberg;
- Being highly self-motivated with an analytical mindset strategic aptitude and a positive can-do attitude;
- A genuine and demonstrable passion for quantitative analysis and investment research; and
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.

Sands Capital offers competitive compensation and generous benefits. For this role the salary range is $105000 to $120000 and will be determined by the candidates professional experience and relevant knowledge skills and abilities. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. Sands Capital may also pay a discretionary performance-based bonus which is targeted as a percentage of base salary and varies by position and position level. The actual bonus paid if any is based on the achievement of quantitative and/ or qualitative goals as well as the success of the firm.
