CARETAKING SUPERVISOR S t. Basil Catholic Education Centre

We are looking to hire a continuous 35.0 hour per week Caretaking Supervisor at St. Basil Catholic Education Centre in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence July 1 2025. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities the Caretaking Supervisor oversees the caretaking operations including supervision of all caretakers. This individual is relationshipfocused and is responsible for ensuring a high standard of employee proficiency and facility cleanliness maintenance and safety. This is an out of scope position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Regularly inspect facilities and consult with staff to ensure a high standard of cleanliness is being maintained;
- Train new employees in the proper cleaning and equipment operating procedures;
- Conduct and coordinate caretaking professional development days;
- In consultation with the Director of Facilities determine supply and equipment needs within the department and arrange for procurement;
- Ensure that employees are aware of and comply with Division administrative procedures;
- Daily supervision of caretaking operations:
- Develop caretaking work schedules;
- Arrange the casual replacements for all caretaker absences;
- Approve caretaker vacation schedules;
- Review and approve caretaker time sheets;
- Review service requests from Head Caretakers.
- Coordinate caretaking services with external user groups renting Division facilities;
- Arrange for building checks by caretaking staff during summer school closure and during weekends throughout the year;
- Chair regular meetings with Head Caretakers distribute information within the Maintenance department;
- Communicate with the Director of Facilities about caretaking hours and staff concerns;
- Assist the Director of Facilities and Principals with hiring and evaluating performance of caretakers;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma;
- Journeyman certification (plumbing electrical heating millwright);
- Bachelor of Management degree;
- 5th Class Power Engineer Certification Building Operator B or equivalent certification considered an asset;
- Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role considered an asset;
- WHIMIS Training;
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Standards as they relate to maintenance;
- Knowledge of building systems such as plumbing electrical and HVAC;
- Ability to identify and communicate building repair issues;
- Class 5 drivers license with a clean driving record;
- Able to work independently with limited direction from supervisor;
- Proficient knowledge of software technology (e.g.: Word Excel);
- Proven capabilities to manage work scheduling prioritizing multiple tasks;
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
