The Palmer InCourt Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is accepting applications for a Courtroom Judicial Assistant (salary range 12).

* Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.



The Position

As a Courtroom Judicial Assistant you will work in a fastpaced environment!This position is responsible for preparing the courtroom for daily hearings ensuring the production of a clear and understandable record of court proceedings marking and maintaining exhibits and maintaining detailed accurate and legible log notes. You will facilitate timeliness of hearings by gathering parties calling for incustody defendants placing calls to parties for telephonic hearings and relaying information to the judge or judicial assistant. In this role you will be responsible for the safety comfort and wellbeing of jurors during jury trials and conduct grand jury and judgment debtor examinations.

This position will work overtime when necessary assist in the training of new employees fill in as backup to the evening weekend and holiday clerks when needed bailiff and assist in other departments as needed.




ATTENTION: Please provide a keyboarding certification dated within one year showing a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute (net).


The Work Hours

Fulltime court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

Substitution:

Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a monthformonth basis.

Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary paralegal or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a monthformonth basis.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
