Coordinates develops supervises and implements the Lincolns Challenge Academy curriculum including academic vocational and life skills.
Schedules and assigns classes to instructor staff approves instructional content of all classes and monitors instruction periods to ensure compliance with required content and format.
Coordinates with the Plans Operations and Training Officer with input from the Deputy Director on all cadet attendance schedules graduation schedules and all other academic and training schedules.
Researches and develops Lesson Reference Files including development sheets guides cadet advance sheets audio/visual aids summary sheets reference lists and cadet checklists.
Facilitates the vocational certification programs for the Academy which include Food Handler Safety Forklift Certification CPR CNA and Drivers Education programs.
Directs the Credit Recovery Educational track the GED education track Locators test TABE Testing and Constitution test.
Serves on multiple committees including the Standards Review Board.
Serves as the proponent authority for policies procedures and regulatory guidance associated with the functions of the Lead Instructor position.
Notifies the Deputy Director of any consequential disciplinary or personal problems involving LCA cadets.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Requires a Bachelors degree in education or social sciences
Requires a Substitute Teaching Certificate recognized by the State of Illinois.
Requires the ability to interact professionally with peers and subordinate staff.
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Ability to work with students individually or in group settings
Ability to use email and office equipment effectively.
Requires ability to communicate and instruct cadets.
Requires working knowledge of classroom procedures and how to instruct cadets.
Masters Degree in education or social sciences.
Active Illinois 612 Teaching Certificate.
Ability to certify program of instruction through the State Board of Education.
Requires elementary knowledge of behavior patterns and modification techniques of cadets.
A background in reading or mathematics is highly preferred.
Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation and obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
Requires a valid drivers license in the appropriate classification as required by law.
Work Hours: Can vary based on Mission Requirements 1/2 hour UNPAID lunch
