Our Database & Integration team has an 12 month fixed term opportunity. The team are responsible for providing database support for Hato Hone St John which currently includes the design and build of relational databases for applications and reporting. In this role youll be involved in a mix of project work and supporting a range of portfolios. Responsibilities include:
Development and Analysis
Design and build relational databases for applications and reporting
Design and build database integrations for internal and external consumption
Contribute to discussions on data architecture and data governance working with stakeholders to establish agreed solutions
Proactive Monitoring
Set up applications scripts or other tools to support automated resolution or notification of issues in St Johns information systems.
Support automated reports summarising the current state of information systems.
Security
Ensure the privacy of personally identifiable information (PII) is not compromised.
Manage and audit user access to information systems by maintain security profiles for the member database and providing reports on compliance breeches and suggestions for improvement.
High Availability Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans
Ensure all information systems are being backed up on a regular basis.
Responsible for the monitoring of failed backups and performing regular recoveries to ensure the backup and recovery processes are working as expected.
Support the business continuity plan as required by St John.
Quality Assurance
Comply to enforce support and drive ITIL processes to improve quality and service levels.
Ensure that all information systems are kept up to date with the latest services packs/patches.
Update training material regularly and keep Standard Operating Procedures up to date.
System Performance
Regularly monitor and report on the performance of information systems.
Provide analysis and timely resolution of performance issues.
Proactive maintain of systems to prevent performance issues.
Data Architecture
Contribute to discussions on data architecture and data governance working with architectural stakeholders to establish agreed solutions
Input into the organisational policies on data management
Project Analysis
Ensure capacity requirements have been defined and provisioned for the project.
Review and provide feedback on impacts with other systems.
Support the solution providers throughout the project
Support business users through the UAT process.
Provide recommendations on system requirements for database server builds
Maintenance and Optimisation of Existing Applications and Processes
Perform analysis and optimisation of underperforming systems and processes when required.
Work to improve the stability of existing systems and processes.
Qualifications :
Ko wai koe About you:
This role would suit a seasoned Database Administrator with a development mindset and looking for further professional growth.
To be successful in this role you will have:
New Zealand citizenship permanent residency or work visa
Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. University technology qualification or Technical Institute qualification
Microsoft Certification in SQL Server Development and Management and C# (preferred)
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Experience building databases from the ground up
Experience with modern data management and integration tech e.g Snowflake Databricks MS Azure and Salesforce
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an alwayson HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery).
Exposure to automation deployment tools such as Azure DevOps.
Understanding of SQL Server architecture to Microsoft standards.
Excellent working knowledge of full Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSAS SSIS and SSRS).
Experience in a similar role ideally within a large complex organization.
