Company Overview:
Our client is a wellestablished distributor of automotive spare parts in Nairobi known for their commitment to quality reliability and customer satisfaction. They are seeking to hire a proactive and detailoriented Assistant Accountant to support daily finance operations and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Job Purpose:
The Assistant Accountant will support the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing routine accounting functions. The role will focus on managing accounting data ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and producing reports that provide insights into the financial performance of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial information and reports in line with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate financial records ensuring all transactions are properly posted in the accounting system.
- Support the preparation of timely monthly management accounts and yearend financial statements.
- Produce financial statements and interpret company financial position for management decisionmaking.
- Oversee daily stock takes conduct spot checks and reconcile stock records.
- Review daily sales reports and reconcile them with expenses and collections.
- Handle all KRA and statutory matters including the filing and reconciliation of VAT PAYE NHIF NSSF HELB and NITA returns.
- Ensure timely compliance with tax obligations and maintain uptodate statutory records.
- Manage daily cashbook entries and perform regular petty cash reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation and accountability of cash expenditures.
- Monitor and reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
- Manage payments invoicing and followups on outstanding receivables.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Update and post all financial transactions accurately in the ERP system (QuickBooks or similar).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Commerce Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar accounting role preferably within the automotive or FMCG sectors.
- Proficient in accounting software especially QuickBooks and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory filings.
