The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Battery Heating Specialsit in our Coke & Iron team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers. The coke making process is an integral part of the manufacturing of steel. Operating the coke plant relies on a skilled specialised and motivated workforce that has a strong focus on safety and the environment.
Reporting to the Heating Team Leader this position offers an interesting role that will make a positive impact on the safety and reliability of our coke plant gas systems. This opportunity presents itself if you are someone who has the ability and willingness to learn whilst able to take on process skills and knowledge in order to work with minimal supervision.
What Will You Do
This role will see you:
- safely isolate and maintain the fuel gas raw gas and steam/air systems across Coke Plant 1 and Coke Plant 2
- undertaking cleaning activities and report all incidents events changes and conditions using appropriate systems
- identifying and responding to safety measures relating to the management of fuel gas and raw gas systems
- Gas watch and monitor gas jobs across Coke Plant 1 and Coke Plant 2
- Conduct total productive maintenance tasks across Coke Plant 1 and Coke Plant 2

- a trade background coupled with operational experience working within industrial processes
- high level of safety awareness and experience with following procedural guidelines and using reporting systems
- passion for process improvement problemsolving and sharing ideas with your team
- the ability to work and troubleshoot in an individual capacity and communicate as part of a larger team
