POSITION: Systems Analyst Information Technology
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
REPORTS TO: Director of Information Technology
SALARY: Unit II Salary Schedule (Twelve Month)
OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Provides support to the Director of Information Technology specifically in support of employee and student data initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should possess the following skills knowledge and abilities in order to meet the minimum requirements for the position:
- Bachelors degree in computer science computer engineering information systems engineering other related scientific or technical discipline preferred or equivalent work experience in performing data analysis.
- 3 to 5 yrs. experience with SQL
- Proficiency with developing complex database queries and at mapping external sources of data system conversions and mapping and/or extracting internal files to send to outside clients according to their specifications
- Knowledge of web systems and applications.
- Knowledge to use databases with web based tools to provide full online data collection and reporting for internal use and external customers
- Expert knowledge of applications on database management systems including performance and security issues
- Knowledge of computer equipment and ability to use complex software to data objectives
- Demonstrates ability to work independently or under only general direction
- Work experience demonstrating technical proficiency may be substituted for education
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Require very little supervision
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the testing documentation and implementation of custom code applications in accordance with functional specifications for new or maintenance of existing processes
- Responsible for analytical work in the design and maintenance of relational database systems
- Analyze information needs based on interviews with targeted users determine feasibility of data processing requests design systems to satisfy user needs design data models to satisfy user needs install relational database operating systems optimize and configure relational database operating systems develop proficient and safe database and code backup procedures program and fully test new systems and modifications to existing systems be able to provide performance solutions for the database provide knowledge and expertise about application systems and programming techniques as related to relational databases quickly assimilate and interpret unfamiliar program codes file formats and system designs
- Review and maintain / provide corrections and updates to existing programming systems when requested
- Assist with all aspects of the project development for new applications and major modifications and implementation of new systems
- Provide quality assurance and testing for own and other data development tasks
- Provide documentation for program development and enduser training as requested
- Monitors existing systems for data validation and integrity checks
- Provide reports and data analyses as requested
PERFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIEINCE:
- Knowledge of school administration
- Experience with High Availability database systems
- Prior responsibility for application systems
- Experience in the integration and conversion of multiplatform systems
- Clear planning and organizational skills in order to meet established schedules
- Ability to work independently or with little guidance
- Willing to work flexible schedule
