Job Description

Desktop and Network Support ManagerThis position will assist the Director of Technology in meeting the technology needs of Whittiers students teachers and administrators. The position will be required to deal with any aspect of the computing environment including hardware software end user training and systems operations while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the Help Desk staff guiding and mentoring them as well as supervising their work for the :Candidate should have an Associates Degree or Technical School Diploma in Information should have:Hands on practical experience supporting and deploying Windows and Apple desktop and server platforms multiple end user software packages networking hardware and software and Internet technologiesExcellent customer service skills an ability to teach both formally and ondemand to enhance the knowledge of end users and a positive attitude Knowledge of School Information Systems is helpfulPractical understanding of Microsoft and Apple operating systems and technologies including Active Directory Microsoft server platforms WinTel hardware and software platforms macOS Google Chrome and others Experience with Google Apps recommended; some Unix/Linux experience useful but not required; exposure to virtual server technologies including HyperV RDS VDI iSCSI SAN and otherExcellent analytical skills creative problem solver willingness to assist in any task and work as a team player essentialRESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Support:Provide hands on support for a wide and varied range of end users and systems including desktop network and software supportSupervise the work of coop students who assist the department as Help Desk staffProvide instruction support and direction to the coop students to further their education and enhance their abilities to support the mission of the IT DepartmentAssist end users to become selfsufficient through both formal and informal training sessionsSystem Administration:Assist in the design and maintenance of system directories including Active Directory Google Apps and othersEnsure the protection and retention of data through monitoring and maintenance of the backup and archiving platforms installedAssist in the operations of the primary School Information System (SIS) in all ways including report generation user maintenance and support State reporting and periodic computer operations schedules to meet school requirements and deadlinesAdminister the various licenses and keys used by the multiple specialized programs used within the districtDevelop strategies and plans to ensure rapid system deployment and recovery through system imaging and other technologiesSupport the operations of other important district systems including the Intranet sites business office systems food services systems and other functional area vertical systemsInfrastructure:Assist the Director in the design implementation and support of the Districts networking infrastructure including firewalls spam filters web content filters VLANs and other technologiesAssist in the protection of data and systems through the deployment and monitoring of endpoint protection software and technologiesMonitor the redundant Internet connections for availability and performanceRecommend changes to existing systems and policies to enhance the reliability security and performance of the networking infrastructure as neededManage the patch management process across a varied desktop and server environmentAssist in the deployment and support of various virtual system technologies including HyperV RDS VDI and other related technologiesAssist in the management and allocation of storage resources including NAS and SAN management and deploymentCustomer Service:Work well in a team environmentMaintain a customer focus in every interaction with staff students and administratorsAble to prioritize the needs of the enduser and meet those needs when possiblePartner with the endusers to fully understand their current and future needs and expectationsManage expectations of the enduser community to ensure that there are no misunderstandings in the delivery of servicesEngage each customer service as both an opportunity to teach and an opportunity to learnSALARY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Between $60000 and $67000 contingent upon experience12 month position
