The North Carolina Community College System (System Office) is a statewide network of 58 public community colleges. The system enrolls over 500000 students annually. It is the 3rd largest in the nation based on the number of colleges. It also provides data to the North Carolina Learning Object Repository by collecting contributing and sharing digital learning resources for use in traditional or distance learning environments. The selected candidate for this role is expected to have a general knowledge of all HR functions. Position will work with and assist the HR Director in their absence. This is a very broad role which serves an agency of approximately 230 employees. Some key duties are:

  • Serve as the Leave Administrator
  • Serve as the Benefits Representative
  • Serve as the Time Administrator
  • Serve as the agencys Workers Comp Administrator which is responsible for administering an effective and efficient workers compensation program.
  • Assist the Director with employee relations issues and grievances.
  • Position performs other duties as assigned to facilitate the accomplishment of goals and objectives.


This is a fulltime position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

Management Preferences:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of job evaluation processes or procedures related to classification and/or position management
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and Word

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required;
OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources;
OR equivalent combination or education and experience.
