This a fulltime position with a pay range for this position is $19.00$21.00 per hour. Outreach Specialists will work nontraditional hours and must work at least two evenings per week until 10 pm. Summer hours may include a Saturday or Sunday shift to attend community events. This is a fulltime position at 35 hours per week. A valid NY State drivers license is required.
The Street Outreach LGBTQ Specialist engages runaway homeless and street youth (RHY) to increase their access to community resources designed to address the medical mental health financial emergency shelter and other basic living and safety needs of disconnected youth. This position will assist runaway homeless and street youth in crisis intervention problemsolving action planning and skill building to address immediate life and safety issues reduce the risk of sexual exploitation and abuse and reduce or prevent incidents of homelessness. This position will ensure that LGBTQ and trafficked youth and young adults are connected to healthcare and other essential services and supports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Crisis Intervention
Screening and Assessment
Individual Counseling & Case Management
Facilitating LGBTQ Support Group
Community Outreach to locations where youth are known to congregate
Target homeless and streetinvolved LGBTQ and trafficked youth and young adults for services
Maintain client confidentiality consistent with Center policies
Referral readiness and referral services
Accurate and timely case and program record keeping
Effectively manage time to meet responsibilities
Engage youth to offer services and referrals
Participation in supervision staff meetings and trainings
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a Bachelors degree in human services education or a related field; and oneyear experience or an equivalent combination of education employment and life experience. A Bachelors is preferred.
In addition to the above it is mandatory that candidates meet the following criteria prior to hire:
Authorization for the agency to obtain driving record information
Proof of a satisfactory physical exam within the last 12 months including a PPD and annually thereafter.
A valid drivers license regular access to a motor vehicle and automobile insurance at the level of $100000 per person/$300000 per accident Bodily Injury and $50000 Property Damage
Access to a telephone
