    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Learning Support Special Education paraprofessional provides direct support to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities assisting with academic instruction behavior management and socialemotional development. This position requires collaboration with teachers special service providers families and otherstaff to implement IEP goals and create an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate is patient compassionate and dedicated to helping students achieve their individual learning goals.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Instructional Support:
      • Provide individualizedor smallgroup instruction to students reinforcing concepts taught by the teacher.
      • Assist students with completing assignmentsusing accommodations and modifications as specified in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
      • Implement instructional strategies and techniques as directed by the teacher.
      • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning styles.
      • Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization.
      • Collect and record data on student progress as directed by the teacher.
    • Behavioral Support:
      • Implement behavior management plans and strategies to support positive behavior.
      • Assist students in developing appropriate social skills.
      • Deescalate challenging behaviors using approved techniques.
      • Provide emotional support and encouragement to students.
      • Monitor and report student behavior to the teacher.
    • Collaboration and Communication:
      • Communicate regularly with the supervising teacher regarding student progress challenges and needs.
      • Collaborate with teachersspecial service providers and other staff members to support student success.
      • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
      • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians as directed by the teacher.
    • Other Duties:
      • Supervise students in various settings (classroom playground cafeteria etc.).
      • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment.
      • Attend professional development training as required.
      • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    High school graduate or equivalent required.
    Bachelors degree(preferred).
    English fluency will be determined through the interview process.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Drivers License.
    Current First Aid and CPR(or obtained within first six months of employment).

    • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
    • Adheres to federal and state laws regulations and policies.


    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Occasional swimming jogging/running.
    Frequent lifting ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds.
    Occasional lifting of up to one hundredfifty (150) pounds with assistance.
    Frequent sitting bending walking standing stooping kneeling squatting and reaching.
    Following employment offer/acceptance: Ongoing employment is conditional upon successful clearance of employer paid job related preemployment physical.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Mostly clean and comfortable.
    May encounter noise odors or body fluids.

    REPORTS TO:
    Principal or designee.

    LOCATION:
    Englewood Middle School

    SALARY:
    Starting hourly rate is $20.11 $22.75 per hour based upon education and prior related experience.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
