Purpose Statement
The job of Fine Arts Director is done for the purpose/s of coordinating fine arts program and related activities; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.
This job reports to the Assistant Superintendentof Curriculum &Instruction.
Essential Functions
Assists with personnel functions (e.g. hiring misconduct scheduling itinerant teachers training evaluation etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing enhancing productivity of personnel improving instruction and ensuring that objectives of the programs are achieved.
Collaborates with others (e.g. district personnel other district departments grade level teachers community organizations agencies and universities etc.) for the purpose of presenting information obtaining feedback and input implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Coordinates program components support needs and materials (e.g. organize district level festivals and exhibits evaluation of materials of instruction select furniture and equipment for fine arts classrooms etc.) for the purpose of delivering services that meet District and/or program guidelines.
Develops budgets and financial forecasts for the purpose of providing financial guidance and recommendations to administrative personnel Superintendent and/or governing Board.
Evaluates programs and/or projects (e.g. curriculum in the four content areas of the Arts curriculum activities for Physical Education etc.) for the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives within area of responsibility.
Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing uptodate reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
Participates in meetings of the program for the purpose of providing oversight of group activities and ensuring program objectives are met.
Provides training to department and school district personnel for the purpose of enhancing productivity of staff promoting professional growth and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved.
Researches a variety of topics for the purpose of being knowledgeable about trends and changes in the arts.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing conflict resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent softwareapplications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; grant administration; community resources; district policies and procedures; and issues relating to at risk youth.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; often gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize jobrelated equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; setting priorities; building collaborative relationships; and working with constant interruptions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely requiredto perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organizations services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting10% walking and 10% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: Masters degree in jobrelated area.
