The Maintenance Tech plays a vital role in maintaining a clean safe and fully operational dining and kitchen environment. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on restaurant facilities equipment and fixtures to ensure smooth daily operations and compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general repairs and maintenance in both front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) areas including dining rooms kitchens storage areas and restrooms.
Troubleshoot and fix minor plumbing issues (e.g. clogged sinks leaky faucets toilet repairs).
Conduct basic electrical work such as changing light bulbs replacing outlets or resetting equipment.
Patch walls paint surfaces and repair flooring tiles or baseboards as needed.
Assist with minor equipment maintenance and installations (e.g. shelving racks soap dispensers kitchen hoods).
Ensure all tools and equipment are safely maintained and properly stored.
Conduct regular inspections to identify safety or maintenance issues and proactively address them.
Work closely with director team and staff to prioritize repairs and limit disruptions during operating hours.
Respond promptly to urgent maintenance needs to minimize downtime or health code risks.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with food safety health department and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance or handyman work preferably in a food service environment.
Basic knowledge of plumbing electrical and general repair techniques.
Familiarity with health and safety standards in restaurants.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Good communication skills and a serviceoriented attitude.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending climbing or standing for extended periods.
Working Conditions
Must be comfortable working in active kitchen and dining environments around food heat and commercial kitchen equipment.
Flexible schedule required including occasional early mornings nights or weekends for emergency repairs.
