POSITION TITLE: Clerk of the Works Porters Point SchoolGENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Clerk of the Works is a consultant responsible for overseeing thecompletion of the project in accordance with the approved plans andspecifications and for notifying the relevant state agencies of any changesduring the construction project in the Colchester School District.
WAGE CATEGORY: Exempt (Salary)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per NonUnion Support Staff Handbook
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial and Operations Officer Colchester School District
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in person and inwriting by the Chief Financial and Operations Officer according to theNonUnion Support Staff Handbook.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist the Superintendent of Schools and the School Board in understanding the content of the contractdocuments
- Conduct onsite observations and spot checks of the work in progress as a basis for determiningconformance of work materials and equipment with the contract documents and reporting anydefective work to the School Board
- Obtain from the School Board additional details or information if required at the site for properexecution of the work
- Become acquainted with standard or reference specifications referred to in the building specifications
- Consider and evaluate suggestions and recommendations which may be submitted by the contractor tothe architect and report them with recommendations to the School Board for final approval
- Be alert to the construction schedule and to any conditions which may cause delays in completion of theproject and report them to the School Board
- Maintain liaison with the contractor and all subcontractors on the project
- Attend and report to the School Board on conferences held at the project site as directed by the SchoolBoard
- Advise the Board in advance of the schedules of tests and observe tests at the project site as directed by the School Board.
- Provide recommendations as situations arise for additions to or renovations of an existing facility which must be maintained in operation during construction
- Respect the limitations of this roles authority by not authorizing deviations from the contract documents
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Financial and Operations Officer and the Superintendent of Schools
WORKING CONDITIONS:- Regular exposure to airborne particles (including dirt & dust)
- Ability to meet multiple demands and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions
- Regular exposure to construction sites which may warrant the use of protective equipment

- Ability to work in an environment that requires one to make quick decisions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
