Primary Purpose:
Assists the Director of Special Education by performing secretarial duties. Functions as a liaison between client-parents and the professional support staff. Maintain communications with various school districts serving students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Texas Paraprofessional Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient skills in typing keyboarding and file maintenance
Knowledge of school districts organization operations and administrative policies Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of special education procedures to maintain appropriate confidential records
Ability to use personal computer and related software to develop databases spreadsheets and word processing
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Performance Responsibilities
- Types correspondence such as letters and memos reports fom1s etc. for the Special Education Department
- Answer routine telephone inquiries regarding department programs and procedures and take reliable messages and route to appropriate staff
- Maintains general office files
- Coordinates with fiscal agent to maintain and update employment records of staff
- Coordinates with fiscal agent payment of bills
- Complete purchase orders for office and department
- Oversees inventory of equipment and supplies
- Liaison for parents schools and staff
- Monitors and process personnels time sheets
- Assist in preparation of student records for legal proceedings
- Collaborates with Director of JCSSA Director analyzing writing and updating state and federal
budget
- Schedule appointments for JCSSA Director
- Perform a variety of special projects
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in
school environment and community.
- Participates in in-service training programs as approved.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students and administration.
- Uphold and enforce administrative state and local policies
Assessment Clerk
- Collaborate with Educational Diagnosticians Speech-Language Pathologists and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology in completing requested documentation for records and ARDs
- Upon request complete the ARD invitation send and document three ARD notices for upcoming ARDs
- Answer routine telephone inquiries regarding department programs and procedures and take reliable messages and route to appropriate staff
- Compile Medicaid information to receive Medicaid funds
- Process and maintain accurate computerized records of all JCSSA special education students
- Maintain accurate student paper eligibility files
- Comply with Release of Records requests
- Maintains accurate records of all Release of Records requests
- Mail copies of ARD paperwork and new FIEs to parents in a timely manner
- Assist JCSSA Secretary in completing purchase orders for office and department
- Assist JCSSA Secretary in maintaining inventory
- Transport required papers student folders or equipment between the various districts and the JCSSA office
- Perform a variety of special projects

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist nonambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.
