Job Description

TITLE: Food Service Clerk

LOCATION: Carver

HOURS: 6:45am - 12:45pm 5.50 hours

PAY:$16.97/ hour

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:


Required Education and Experience:

  1. A valid drivers license or the ability to travel within the district as requested.
  2. Computational skills in money handling and completing reports.

Desired Education and Experience:

  1. High School diploma HiSET or GED
  2. School Nutrition Association Membership and Certification
  3. Previous cashiering experience in school food service or other food production facility or equivalent work experience in cashiering accounting and/or record keeping.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to cope with time pressure.
  2. Ability to organize own time and tasks.
  3. Ability to effectively use computer-based systems.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist with the operation of the total multi-unit food service operation in compliance with federal and state regulations relating to Child Nutrition Programs. Collect payment and enter data into computer as students and staff move through line. Accountable for all meals. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the food and nutrition services department..

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist in the kitchen with daily production tasks including cooking breakfast and other food items.
2. Back-up support in the absence of a head cook including cooking.
3. Complete daily records accurately including production records.
4. Demonstrate the knowledge of reimbursable meals and snacks.
5. Operate the Point-of-Sale system daily to close each production day.
6. Check patrons through the line at serving time for reimbursable meals and charging accounts as needed.
7. Count money and prepare bank deposit daily.
8. Carry out clerking policies and procedures as established by Food & Nutrition Department.
9. Assist with cleaning at the end of the day in accordance with district and department guidelines.
10. Refill and clean fruit and vegetable bars between service lines.
11. Maintain all food safety and sanitation standards.
12. Maintain annual U.S.D.A professional standards requirements.
13. Read communications from all district stakeholders.

  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mostly indoors with frequency in extremes of temperature/humidity

    • All authorized Leaves of Absences for Other Reasonable Purposes according to the Comprehensive Agreement will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the director of personnel before determining if it will be taken off the record for this

  • All employees must not have any no call/no show incidents the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting
  • All employees must not have any unauthorized time off during the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting date.
  • All employees must be in an active paid status at the beginning of the posting.
    • Exceptions will be considered by the director of personnel.
  • Evaluation: composite score of meets or better on the most recent evaluation
    • All staff must have one evaluation on file.
    • If no evaluation is on file by the end of the respective work calendars for the year it will be considered a meets evaluation.
    • Exceptions will be considered by the director of personnel.
  • Discipline: no formal discipline during the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting date for all
  • Seniority: if two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications the employee with the greater seniority within the department or classification (depending on the position) will be given first consideration. Exceptions regarding department or classification seniority will be considered by the director of personnel.
