Are you ready to lead with purpose and take the next step in your Correctional Career Coffee Creek Correctional Facility (CCCF) is seeking experienced and committed professionals to join our team as a Correctional Lieutenant.
We are currently hiring for two (2) permanent Lieutenant positions and two (2) work out of class job rotation opportunities.
The job rotations are expected to last approximately twelve (12) months but may be adjusted based on business needs. This opportunity is open to regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections Oregon Corrections Enterprises or the Oregon Board of Parole and PostPrison Supervision with approval from their current manager.
This leadership role is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring safety and security while mentoring and fostering professional growth among staff and supporting the rehabilitation of Adults in Custody (AIC)s.
To qualify applicants must be permanent employees (temporary and contract employees are not eligible) of the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) or the Board of Parole and PostPrison Supervision (BOPPPS). We encourage all eligible employees to apply.
As a Correctional Lieutenant you will play a key role in the daily operations of the facility. Youll be responsible for supervising directing and ensuring the custody and control of AICs in alignment with the Oregon Department of Corrections mission and values. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining a safe secure and orderly facility by promoting a culture of communication accountability and staff development.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) as defined by statute.
Education will not be accepted as a substitute for the required experience.
Preference will be given to applicants with additional experience in ODOC or law enforcement additional leadership experience experience on specialty assignments education and training related to ODOC criminal justice or law enforcement.

Once the posting closes all applications will be reviewed by a recruiter to verify that candidates meet the minimum qualifications (MQs) for the position.
Candidates who meet the MQs will receive a link to the Lieutenant Assessment Reference Guide which outlines expectations for the next steps. All qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the following inperson assessments:
These assessments along with the Workday MeritBased Questionnaire (completed as part of the initial application) will be scored and combined into a single Phase 1 score. Participation in the inperson assessments is required. Candidates who meet or exceed the established cutoff score will advance to Phase 2.
Candidates who move forward will participate in a structured panel interview focused on leadership competencies situational judgment communication and alignment with the Departments mission and values. There may be multiple rounds of interviews during this phase.
Preference points will be applied during both phases in compliance with applicable laws and collective bargaining agreements.
Once a top candidate is identified they will move forward to the background check process which includes a reference check and a PREA check. If cleared the candidate will proceed to the offer stage where an Equal Pay assessment will be conducted in accordance with Oregons pay equity laws. Constant exposure to adult male and female AICs within a prison setting. Exposure to emotionally and mentally unstable and deviant behaviors within the work environment on an ongoing basis. Rotating shifts/positions of a 7 day/24hour operation. Mandatory overtime. Participation on riot squads or tactical teams. Searches of unclothed AICs. Collecting urine samples. Some travel and hospital supervision. Perform continuous physical activity which may include bending and standing for prolonged periods.

The salary range listed above is for nonPERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprintbased background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position. However having a felony record does not exclusively restrict you from being considered as an applicant. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
