About the Area

Minimum Qualifications:
6 months of animal health experience AND
Certified Veterinary Technician certificate from the Oregon Veterinary Medical Board AND
Euthanasia Technician certificate (or ability to get it within 6 months).
Bonus Points If You Have:
2 years of CVT experience in a practice OR 1 year in a shelter.
Experience handling highstress situations.
Experience with spay/neuter surgeries.
Experience with shelter population health.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

This recruitment will be used to fill any current and future fulltime parttime oncall temporary and limited duration positions while the eligible for hire list is active.
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience volunteering education and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Six (6) months of work experience in an animal healthrelated field; AND
Possession of a Certified Veterinary Technician certificate issued by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Board as outlined by OAR; AND
Possession of or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire a Euthanasia Technician certificate issued by the State of Oregon.
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Please clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills.
Two (2) years of Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) experience in a veterinary practice; OR one (1) year of CVT experience in an animal shelter setting.
Ability to effectively handle highstress situations while still demonstrating the key values and mission of MCAS.
Demonstrated experience in supporting highvolume spay/neuter surgeries.
Demonstrated experience in assisting in the management of overall population/herd health in a shelter setting including assisting in the management of infectious disease outbreaks.
Demonstrated ability to work both independent of and in collaboration with veterinarians other CVTs and veterinary assistants.
