Director of Alumni & Family Engagement
THE ROLE
LEAD Charter School seeks an exceptional Director of Alumni & Family Engagement to join our missiondriven community. Our goal is to transform equity through opportunities for young people in Newark. Reporting to the Head of School the Director of Alumni and Family Engagement will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to build a robust active and engaged alumni network and a strong partnership with families of current students and Alumni. This role requires a combination of relationshipbuilding community outreach program management and communication. The Director will foster a culture of lifelong learning and support among alumni and their families helping them remain connected to the school while also providing ongoing mentorship and career development opportunities.

The mission of LEAD is to enable students ages 1621 in grades 912 to master essential skills for success in careers postsecondary education and community leadership within a global society. We implement the Newark Opportunity Youth Network (NOYN) school model supporting the unique academic and nonacademic needs of students who have disengaged from traditional schooling. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelors degree in related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience working with youth in an urban district or charter school setting with an explicit focus on building rapport and trust.
- Ability to work with a diverse multicultural staff and students.
- Must have knowledge of Federal and New Jersey State reentry policy and programming
- Proficiency in EffortstoOutcome (ETO) software
- Familiarity with alternative education and schooltocareer practices. .
- Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models and selecting and successfully implementing innovative programs.
- Experience with managing a staff team towards successful outcomes
- Commitment to NOYN school model and implementation with fidelity.
- Ability to effectively network with public and private sector stakeholder.s
- Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Alumni Engagement:
- Develop and implement an alumni relations strategy that fosters lifelong connections and a sense of community.
- Plan and execute alumni events both virtual and inperson including reunions networking events and career fairs.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive alumni database to track achievements milestones and areas of need.
- Develop career services programs to support alumni with job placement internships and professional development opportunities.
- Engage alumni in mentorship opportunities with current students to provide guidance advice and professional development.
Family Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with families of current students through regular communication outreach and events.
- Create and implement family engagement programs that strengthen the schools connection to students home lives and communities.
- Provide resources and workshops for families to support their students academic success wellbeing and career readiness.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of the districts family engagement policies and standards
- Collaborates with various organizations non profits and parent advocacy groups to strengthen family engagement
- Creates a consistent feedback loop with stakeholders to solicit input and to assess progress with the organizations strategy and uses information to improve strategy implementation
Communication and Outreach:
- Design and implement a communication plan to ensure alumni and families are regularly informed and engaged with school news events and opportunities.
- Develop content for newsletters social media and other communication channels to highlight alumni success stories upcoming events and school achievements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for alumni and family inquiries ensuring that all interactions are handled in a timely professional and supportive manner.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Track and report on alumni and family engagement metrics using data to improve outreach strategies and inform programmatic decisions.
- Ensure that all engagement efforts are aligned with the schools mission and goals and are culturally responsive to the needs of the families and alumni.
Strategic Partnerships:
- Develop and nurture relationships with community organizations businesses and colleges/universities to create additional opportunities for alumni and families.
- Partner with local employers and postsecondary institutions to establish internship employment and scholarship opportunities for alumni.
- Understands and demonstrates effective partnership management across agencies in order to effectively serve the needs of participants; ensure partnerships reflect education and training providers the workforce investment system employers the juvenile justice system and faithbased and communitybased organizations.
- Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
- Participate in weekly education team meetings fullstaff meetings interdisciplinary team meetings and other small group/special project meetings as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their designee
- Adheres to and promotes the philosophy and objectives of the school and the Board of Trustees.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 12month employee.
- Salary to be recommended by the Head of School and approved by the board.
EVALUATION
- Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the boards policy on evaluation.
