Avenues: The World School is globally recognized for its innovative educational model and sophisticated integration of technology into teaching and learning. Now our Avenues So Paulo campus is seeking a new Director of Technologyan extraordinary opportunity for an entrepreneurial collaborative leader with deep expertise as an educator people manager and technologist.
The Director of Technology provides strategic leadership to ensure technology catalyzes innovation across teaching learning and school operations. Partnering closely with campus leadership the Director aligns technology initiatives with the schools educational and operational goals. Leading a skilled team of technology integrators system administrators and IT specialists the Director defines and drives a clear vision for effective transformative technology use across campus. Through strategic leadership and a commitment to excellence the Director ensures that every community member is empowered with the tools resources and support to thrive in a globally connected school environment.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will bring proven abilities in supporting academic excellence and campus infrastructure and as such will be expected to:
- Select implement and support technologies that best contribute to achieving the campuss strategic and operational goals.
- Build lead and inspire a highly engaged effective technology team including technology integration IT support campus infrastructure and academic systems.
- Collaborate with academic and operational leaders (admissions business registrar library operations people and culture) to identify and meet evolving technology needs.
- Lead campuswide technology strategy planning implementation and troubleshooting to support learning and school operations.
- Partner with facilities and local vendors to ensure a reliable secure and innovative campus infrastructure that allows flawless campus operations.
- Collaborate with Nord Anglias regional technology teams to ensure full compliance with cybersecurity and data protection standards.
- Own and champion the Avenues technology vision embedding it into strategic decisionmaking daytoday operations and communications with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the technology program internally and externally including leading professional learning opportunities speaking at conferences and showcasing Avenues thought leadership.
Qualifications :
Candidates should bring most or all of the following:
- Energized by Avenues mission and opportunity for impact in education
- Bachelors degree in computer science information systems educational technology or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 10 years of experience at the intersection of technology and education/learning
- Fluent in English Mandatory
- Fluent in Portuguese Strong Plus
- Ability to attract top talent and build effective teams that do great things together
- A keen analytical problemsolving approach including in ambiguous situations that require figuring out new solutions rather than taking predetermined paths to success
- Ability to lead effectively through relationships persuasion and influence
- Keen intellectual curiosity and mindset of continuous learning and growth
- Sense of deep personal responsibility for the organizations success
- Strong understanding of usability practices information design hierarchical analysis and architecture design
